1. Get an advanced degree
Your educational degrees are the investment to your future. Attending a college is a major commitment of time and money. Make sure you invest in the right college and the right course. It requires a lot of hard work, but that work prepares you for a challenging and rewarding career and a more fruitful life. As a career coach, I suggest, that one should complete their formal education. And if you plan to go ahead for your second masters or PhD, then it’s a great move to advance your career & open up opportunities.
2. Get a certification
Certifications make a difference to your knowledge base. At college, we study whatever is there in our course curriculum. However, to specialise a particular domain, you have to earn certifications. They can be online or offline, that depends upon your choice. Make sure that certifications are recognized by essential bodies.
3. Seek for a mentor
A great mentor helps you tap all the resources within yourself. But a mentor isn’t necessarily to be an older person. He/ She should be wise and an intelligent person. Your mentors can be your teachers, professors, family members, or any relative. If you are open and curious, you can be mentored constantly.
4. Associate yourself with professional bodies
Membership from professional bodies recognize people professionals in their field of work that demonstrates your excellence. Being associated with these bodies, you possess up-to-date and relevant skills and knowledge base. Your association speaks for your commitment towards good practice, continuing professional development and Code of Professional Conduct. It ensures that you remain relevant and more employable.
